As much as we love accountancy, what drives and motivates us is your business growth. All our property, tax, compliance, planning and financial structuring expertise is geared toward making a positive impact on your business, your people, and the lives of you and your family.
It starts with understanding people, and over the last 20 years, we’ve got to know our clients very well; earned their trust and respect, and that has allowed us to expand our firm to a team of over 35.
Come and meet the partners.
I grew up in Warkworth, the son of highly respected chartered accountant. I’ve been a chartered accountant in public practice my entire career, from a clerk in the early days, to starting Withers Tsang with my business partner Stephen Tsang, in 1998.
I’m a regular commentator on property tax matters, and the author of “Property Tax – A NZ investors Guide”, the first book on the subject to be published in New Zealand. I am also a residential and commercial property investor.
Outside of professional life, I enjoy spending time with my two sons. I volunteer as a radio operator for the coast guard, and I’m a qualified windsurfing instructor. I also enjoy getting out on my electric bike.
I tell my clients ‘don’t leave wind to find wind’. It’s all about stickability – if you are in a good position, stay with it. If something is working, keep doing it. It’s a personal philosophy that has served me well for over 20 years

I was born and raised in Hong Kong, and came to New Zealand when I was 17.
After graduating from Otago University I moved to Auckland and developed a thriving client base, explaining trust deeds and legal documents, which at the time very few accountants had the ability to do.
When we started Withers Tsang in 1998 many of my clients followed, and I became a trusted business confidante and liaison for many of them. I still take on diverse roles as advisor and intermediary for my clients, negotiating large lending facilities, undertaking succession planning, advising on new business start-ups, tax/trust related issues, and much more.
I enjoy public speaking and I present seminars for banks and businesses and participate in radio programmes talking about tax matters.
I’m married, with two teenage children and outside of work and family life, I’m a mad keen fisherman who loves to learn about wine and dream about golf!
“Do to others as you would have them do to you”. This underpins my interaction with clients and the whole team. Always work with the upmost respect and integrity and you can’t go wrong.

Bachelor of Commerce, Otago University (accounting and economics)
I was born and raised in Auckland and my business ambitions started when at 15 I first worked for lawyer Barrie Hopkins. I part own and advise a number of businesses at board level that are experiencing growth and are in need of strategic advice. My role is to support businesses focusing on areas like culture, systems and business efficiency.
As a Chartered Accountant and Business Consultant, I have been a partner at Withers Tsang for ten years. In that time, I specialized in client development and tax compliance and now am focusing on the business and the arts sectors. I represent entertainers, performers and all their related industries such as graphics and marketing. My work with creatives over the last 10 years has led me to have an involvement with the not for profit sector including my role on the board of the New Zealand Comedy Trust.
Recently, I achieved the Masters of Professional Studies (Taxation) with Distinction at Auckland University of Technology. This three years of study adds to my expertise by allowing me to stay on top of the latest taxation laws. As a business adviser it is important that I’m always learning and keeping at the forefront of taxation laws and technical issues. Adding to this my experience dealing with crisis situations means that I am able to support businesses through the rough and tumble of the contemporary business environment. Strategic thinking is key to supporting these businesses and growing them to their full potential. You’ve got to see the whole picture – otherwise you see nothing.

I’m originally from Paeroa where my parents had their own business. I experienced first hand the stress and uncertainty caused by GST, PAYE and income tax and I decided I wanted to help. That passion for helping shapes the way I practice today.
I became a chartered accountant and began my career at Withers Tsang. I help clients understand not only the process and procedures of accounting, but also the concepts and ideas behind things such as legislation and accounting software and principles. Needless to say I’m the MYOB and Xero co-ordinator, and first responder when there are IT issues!
I’ve developed a specialist practice in tax matters relating to foreign investments, which is a complex subject, largely ignored by many accountants, and I continue to build expertise in this area.
Outside of work I’m a committed full-time family man to my wife & two daughters. I am a gamer and golfer (albiet a bad one), when I have the time.
Before you chase what you want, appreciate what you’ve got. Reaching goals is momentary; the journey to reaching goals is infinite.
